How to Change the Battery in a Cadillac Key Fob

How to Open Cadillac Key Fob: 2014 and Newer

Before you learn how to change the battery in a Cadillac key fob, you’ll need to know how to open a Cadillac key fob first. A new Cadillac key fob was introduced in 2020 for the CT5, but it’s similar to the one from 2014. Here are the steps for a successful Cadillac key fob battery replacement:

1. Locate the tiny release button on the side of the key fob case. Press the button to open the case and reveal the metal key. 
2. Once you remove the key, you should notice a small opening then use a flat head screwdriver to separate the sides of the case.
3. Inside, you’ll see the circuit board on one side, and the battery on the other. 
4. Remove the old battery then slowly drop in the replacement battery. Use the screwdriver to pop out the old battery if necessary. 
5.  The Cadillac key fob battery replacement requires a CR2032 battery. Place the new battery face down for the positive side.
6. After, put the case back together to complete your Cadillac key fob battery replacement. 

The CR 2032 battery can be found in most Byron auto stores or shop our parts center near Macon.
