The Escalade seats eight and the XT5 seats five. However, the Escalade only has 4.1 more inches of legroom than the XT5. The XT5 has one half inch more actual legroom than the Escalade. In terms of cargo capacity, the Escalade has 15.2 cu ft and the XT5 has 30 cu ft. The midsize vehicle actually has double the cargo carrying capacity and more room inside. The exterior dimensions of the Escalade are longer, wider, and taller than the XT5, but the XT5 can carry more on the interior.
The XT5 may have more room on the inside, but the Escalade has more under the hood. The XT5 has a V6 engine that can deliver 310 hp at 6600 rpm. It can deliver 172 lb-ft torque at 5000 rpms. The Escalade features a V8 engine that can deliver 420 hp at 5600 rpm and 460 lb-ft torque at 4100 rpm. This is a lot more power. In addition, the Escalade has electronic fuel injection and the XT5 has direct fuel injection. As far as fuel efficiency goes, the Escalade gets 14 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. The XT5 gets 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. The Escalade offers a 26 gallon tank and the XT5 offers a 21.7 gallon tank.
Both of these models offer OnStar 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspots. The Escalade features an upgraded sound system from the XT5. The Escalade has a Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound 16-speaker system and XT5 only has a standard Bose Premium 8 speaker system. The Escalade has an upgraded 12 way adjustable seat, power lumbar front seats, and a 3 zone climate control system. The XT5 comes with dual zone climate control as standard. Many of the features that come standard on the Escalade can be purchased as options on the XT5.
